Westerplatte

Today our missionary district walked down the streets of Gdańsk then headed out to Westerplatte, the location where World War II began.

The Germans opened fire on Westerplatte on September 1, 1939 beginning the invasion of Poland and the beginning of World War II. Today we learned about the battle and saw the large monument that marks the area.
