Jesus said, “Except a man be born of the water and of the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” Yesterday we found our way to Brzezno beach for a baptism in the cool Baltic Sea. When offered the choice between being baptized in a pool or in the ocean, Victor Barrientos, our newest member, overwhelmingly chose to be baptized in the sea. The air temperature yesterday was 57 degrees and foggy – definitely not warm. I didn’t ask if the water was cold but Victor had a big smile on his face, whatever the water temperature was. After his baptism he returned to the beach underwater for a couple of strokes. Maybe he had a flashback to his native country, Columbia, where the water temperature is always balmy.
We feel to thank the Lord for the four baptisms we’ve witnessed on this beach. It is a sacred place for us.
