Mike and Darell

We were excited to have Uncles Mike and Darell visit us in Gdańsk this past week. On Saturday, we went to the beach where there was a sailboat regatta. We watched the sailboats out in the Gulf of Gdańsk for an hour or so then went back to tour the Gdańsk Old Town. They liked seeing the city and enjoyed being among the throngs of people. We also climbed to the top of the closest church to admire the view. We also went to the church with the amber altar.

On Sunday Mike and Darell spoke in our branch’s Sacrament meeting. The branch members loved it and were still talking about it one week later. We walked down Długa Street after lunch pausing for a photo in front of Neptune’s Fountain.

On Monday we drove to Wolf’s Lair, where Adolf Hitler lived during World War II. It is a somber place when you think of all the violence and destruction that happened during the war. Sharon and I have been here twice and I think we have had enough.

We drove to Malbork Castle on Tuesday. The Teutonic Knights built this castle which is the largest brick castle in Europe. There is a lot of history explained in this castle and I think Mike and Darell really enjoyed our visit. We loved having them coming to support us on our mission to Poland.
